Add a feature safely
Extend a Roblox game without accidentally replacing its existing systems.
Write an acceptance checklist#
Name the entry point, rules and visible result. For a shop, specify who can buy, how the server checks the price and what happens when funds are insufficient. Decide how the feature interacts with saving and player departure.
Build a thin slice#
Save a checkpoint. Add one item, one purchase path and one UI state first. Keep existing interfaces stable where possible. Use the Validated client/server request starter to understand the separation between a request and a server-owned action; it is not a finished shop or persistence system.
Test more than the happy path#
Try repeated input, missing data, respawn and multiple players. Verify that the client cannot choose its own reward. Once the small version works, expand content through configuration rather than copying whole scripts.
