Tagged components

Reuse behaviour attached to Roblox instances using CollectionService.

Try the component starter#

Add Tagged components. Create a Part in Studio and tag it BloxgColourPad. During a playtest, touching it with a character will change the part’s colour. The script is attached to both existing and newly created tagged parts.

Clean up the lifecycle#

Keep connections associated with each part. On removing a tag, disconnect listeners and release instance-specific state. Avoid attaching the same behaviour twice. For temporary effects, also clean up spawned instances and started tasks.

Build your own components#

Use tags for behaviours like doors, pickup points or hazards. Use attributes for configuration and put authority on the server. This is a small original starter, not a full entity-component framework or an automatic importer of a competitor’s components.
